This habotai silk shawl is light weight, breezy and 22"x96". The shawl was first dyed in a bath of cochineal dye. Itajime shibori was then applied (a shaped-resist technique) and then dipped in natural indigo. A block shape cut from acrylic or wood is placed outside the folds and held with C-clamps. The shape prevent the dye from penetrating the fabric it covers. The result is a pleated cloth with a deep blue design and bright white petals.

Due to running different dye vats and how far the dye penetrates each scarf, the color may be a slightly different shade to the one shown. Shades of lipstick may vary from magenta to light pink to purple. Rest assured it will be just as beautiful!

The scarf was pre-washed. Hand wash with a mild detergent and press.
