April 15 Indigo + Arashi Shibori Silk Scarf

April 15 Indigo + Arashi Shibori Silk Scarf

Students will initially learn how a non-fermented indigo vat is made. Natural East Indian indigo powder will be used, and the vat will be ‘reduced’ using a commercially available agent (theox). While the vat develops, students will be shown a famous SHIBORI technique, ARASHI: a binding method around a pole, to create a beautiful striation (linear) pattern. You will enjoy seeing everyone's unique creations and go home with a lovely light habotai silk scarf.
