Edisto Island Indigo Retreat

When I went to Japan in 2014 to learn everything about indigo, I stayed on a silk and indigo farm and shared a bedroom with other ladies. This retreat is an art, craft and indigo retreat so sharing a house and a room should be expected. We are staying in a 4 bedroom house close to the beach on Pompeo Street. It is spacious and styled beautifully. There is a large space under the house with picnic tables and even a counter with sink and tap water.

4 day 5 nights indigo retreat on Edisto Island, SC
April 10 through 15, 2024

We will visit a property where we grow the indigo (there will not be any indigo since the growing season starts in August), Drayton Hall plantation, tour old Charleston and visit the new International African American Museum.

Included are your room and continental breakfasts, lunches (all but one) and dinners. Entrance to the plantation and the museum and all classroom supplies, and equipment will also be included.

You will go home with a lot of hands-on knowledge, lots of items dyed and painted by you (2 scarves, 1 set of napkins, framed batik art, 1 set of batik cocktail napkins and paint indigo on 2 kitchen towels), a published booklet written by me and a botanical print of the plant.

Schedule (it may change depending on the weather)
Arrival: Welcome dinner

Day one: work with indigo, understand shades of indigo, batik

Day two: work with indigo, shibori, paint or stamp on soy treated cotton

Day three: Dabble with onion to create either a golden dye or eco printing - embroider and stamp your creations

Day four: Tour Charleston, lunch at a local restaurant (you are responsible for paying your meal), visit a plantation and a museum

Day five: Departure after breakfast

- A single person is $1660 or if you share with someone else it is $1360 per person

Cancellation policy
To reserve your spot, you must pay the $400 deposit unless you want to pay the whole amount.

Cancel before 8 weeks prior, receive the whole amount, minus 3.75% credit card fee.

Between 8 weeks and 4 weeks prior to the retreat, receive 50% back.

It will be non refundable if you cancel within 4 weeks prior to the retreat.
