Steeped in Color: An Indigo Dyeing Afternoon with Tea & Cake
Unwind with a Cup of Tea & a Splash of Indigo: Join Our Unique Afternoon Workshop
Only 6 participants per session. November 22, 23 or 24th. 2:00pm to 5:30pm.
This is truly a lovely and unique experience! You'll get to spend 3.5 hours on James Island, learning about the rich history of indigo in South Carolina. Indigo was a significant crop in the state's colonial past, and it's fascinating to learn about its impact on the region.
During the workshop, you'll get hands-on experience creating your own indigo vat and using it to dye a set of cotton/linen napkins and a beautiful silk charmeuse scarf. It's a great opportunity to learn a new skill and take home some lovely, handmade items.
The setting is idyllic, too - enjoying tea time with your creations hanging over the marsh, surrounded by the natural beauty of James Island. The carrot cake, cucumber
sandwiches and tea (or a cold drink) will be a lovely touch, adding to the relaxing
and creative atmosphere of the experience.
